Titled Live, Lead, Learn, the book is not being pitched as a memoir or self help book, but rather as “intensely practical” with Kelly outlining her key lessons abd tips by using her own personal and business stories.
No doubt Kelly will also share plenty of big moments in her own leadership career, moving from teaching Latin to schoolboys in Rhodesia to running one of Australia’s big four banks.
The publisher says the book will showcase how both companies and individuals thrive when employees have the opportunity to achieve balance across their lives. Kelly will outline how more of us can “sensibly and sanely” achieve such balance by adjusting our work expectations and work habits.
In the book, Kelly also outlines how back in 2008, five weeks after the collapse of Lehman Brothers, she joined a group of banking CEOs from around the world on how to move forward with the global financial system in crisis.
“I asked myself the question: Do I have what it takes to do this? I realised that I would need to draw on every life and leadership lesson of my journey so far. I would need to dig deep and back myself. It would be essential to keep learning. Little did I know that some of my biggest lessons on how to live and lead were yet to come.”
Penguin Random House CEO Julie Burland said the book will be a must read for “anyone interested in the importance of diversity, delivering results, and the true spirit of helping others.”
The book is expected to published July 31.
